Recently President Donald Trump threatened to terminate a trade agreement with South Korea. He called the deal which was reached in 2011 a horrible deal that’s left America destroyed and says it’s a deal that never should have been made. Prior to the agreement being signed R CALF opposed it. CEO Bill Bullard says they’re still against it and are pleased the President agrees with them.
He says there are several flaws in the Korean FTA that has brought no real benefits to the U.S. cattle industry.
Bullard says despite recent rhetoric, he expects the President to follow through with withdrawing from that trade deal.
Bullard agrees with the President that it would be easier to leave the South Korean agreement than NAFTA. The President said withdrawing from NAFTA could take up to six months while the South Korean pact could be exited almost immediately.
