United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer told a House committee that the World Trade Organization has proven to be wholly inadequate to deal with China’s version of a state dominated economy that rejects market principles. R-CALF CEO Bill Bullard agrees and says it was a mistake to allow China into the WTO in the first place. He says they’re a communist country and not a market economy.

He says those who are concerned the U.S. will get into a trade war over tariffs with China or any other country must realize the U.S. has been in a trade war already the past twenty years and is losing.

Bullard says the Trump administration is doing the right thing by advocating a tough trade policy.

Bullard says without a tough trade policy the U.S. will continue to see fewer jobs, lower wages and fewer manufacturers. He says the U.S. needs to consume more of what it produces.
