R-CALF members will be in Deadwood, South Dakota Thursday and Friday at their convention talking about issues effecting the bottom line of cattle producers. CEO Bill Bullard says they’ll lead off the meeting talking about marketing issues.

He says they’ll also be talking about the need for strengthening the nation’s anti trust laws to protect independent cattle producers.

Bullard says the other two major items they’ll be discussing include changes needed for the beef checkoff and animal identification.

The final item they’ll be discussing is their continued efforts to restore mandatory country of origin labeling. Bullard says they have a real opportunity to possibly get cool attached to the USMCA trade agreement that Congress will be debating this fall.
