R CALF is hoping Congress will defend Country of Origin Labeling although their leader admits it may be an uphill battle. CEO Bill Bullard says he’s aware the COOL reform coalition is working to get rid of the law. He says R CALF however isn’t alone in defending COOL and has a number of groups backing it but not with the deep pockets the opposition has.
Bullard says an official WTO decision on whether or not COOL violates international trading rules is due the end of this month, it could actually come out sooner.
Bullard says the fight over Country of Origin Labeling is now being held in three arenas, in the U.S. Congress, in the Domestic Courts and Internationally through the World Trade Organization.
