R CALF CEO Says Imported Cattle Squeezing Producers Out Of Domestic Cattle Markets

America’s cattle producers have had a difficult time finding a cash market for their animals lately and Congress has called for investigations into cattle prices received by producers versus what packers are getting. R-CALF CEO Bill Bullard says the numbers of imported cattle into the U.S. have increased lately.

He says this market access problem demonstrates the need for reinstatement of mandatory country of origin labeling.

Bullard says at a time when domestic cattle producers are suffering, those exporting to the U.S. have sent just under 2 million cattle into the United States.

Bullard is encouraging his group’s members and all cattle producers to call their members of Congress and tell them they don’t want to rely on taxpayer subsidies but want to compete, and that cannot be done until M-COOL is reinstated.
