Tuesday, Quad County Processors in Galva, Iowa held the grand opening of its cellulosic ethanol plant. Quad County CEO DeLayne Johnson says their cutting edge technology at their bolt on refinery turns corn kernel fibers into cellulosic ethanol.
He says they’re also able to increase the amount of protein that is left in their feed product and then sell that to the livestock industry. He says the new facility will produce 2 million gallons of cellulosic ethanol.
Johnson says having robust volume requirements in the RFS is critical to their industry.
Johnson says they now employ 40 people at their cellulosic ethanol plant.
