Nebraska lawmakers will be asked by representatives of the “Convention of States Project” to join their effort to change portions of the U-S Constitution. Lobbyist Mark Meckler is in Nebraska to talk to lawmakers and urge them to approve LR35 that was introduced by Wilber State Senator Laura Ebke.
Meckler says this is not an easy task. Thirty-four states must pass the resolution for a convention to be held. Once all agree to the amendments they are sent to all 50 states. Three-quarters of the states must agree for any of the proposed amendments to be ratified. Meckler says so far, so good.
Meckler says Article V of the Constitution allows states to call a convention and to approve amendments.
