The American Soybean Association and other agricultural groups are continuing their push for Congress to approve the Trans Pacific Partnership trade agreement. ASA board member and South Dakota farmer Kevin Scott serves on the groups trade policy and international affairs committee. He says they’re keeping pressure on Congress to approve the deal during the lame duck session.
He says every U.S. agricultural group stands to gain from having the TPP in place.
Scott says if the U.S. bypasses the TPP, market share will be lost globally and other countries will reap the benefits.
Scott realizes that prospects for passage of TPP are slim with both Presidential candidates opposed but says ASA and other ag groups aren’t giving up.
