A proposed project for a wind farm in Lincoln County has raised $1.5 million to complete required studies and payments needed to move forward with development.

WE CARE South Dakota is a group of Lincoln County residents who have come together to educate the community about the impacts of what they describe as an industrial wind farm. Winnie Peterson is chair of the group, and she says despite the investments and promotion, this project has a long way to go.

Peterson says the main concerns behind this wind farm are not only the lack of economic sustainability, but also decreased property values.

She says that WE CARE is dedicated to educating anyone interested in learning more through their website, door-to-door campaigns, and community meetings.
