Tax levies for most school districts in Cedar County in northeast Nebraska are going up.
A.J. Johnson, Superintendent at the Hartington-Newcastle District says it is tied to a drop in land value, and a budget increase……
The property tax increase in the Hartington district will be about three percent.
Johnson says they have had to expand some of their programs……
Johnson says they get little in state aid, so they depend on local effort……
Johnson says their budget this year is about six and a half million dollars.
