Rising property taxes in Nebraska has become one of the main issues in the Governor’s race between democrat Chuck Hassebrook, and republican Pete Ricketts. Current Governor Dave Heineman also continue to push counties and school districts on their budgets, most of which come from property taxes.
District 40 Senator Tyson Larson of O’Neill says the Unicameral has also been addressing the issue over the past few years…
Larson says all local governments have a hand in property tax rates…
Larson says tax levies have to be balanced with rising land valuations…
Larson says he would support a move toward setting land assessments at sixty five percent, down from the current seventy five percent.
