Property Tax Still an Issue in Nebraska

Property Tax Still an Issue in Nebraska

A group pushing for property tax relief in Nebraska says the issue hasn’t gone away just because the Unicameral failed to act in the last legislative session.

Executive Director Trent Fellers with Reform for Nebraska’s Future says he believes the governor’s tax cut proposal failed in the legislature, because it focused too much on an income tax cut and too little on a property tax cut. . .

Fellers says the current conversation about taxes might need to expand. . .

Fellers says lawmakers might have one last chance in the next session to approve something meaningful. Otherwise, an effort will likely be launched to place the issue on the ballot next fall.
