With the failure of the Nebraska legislature to pass any property tax reduction bills this session, attention is now focused on a possible ballot issue this fall.
Backers of the petition need eighty-five thousand signatures by July fifth to get it on the ballot. It would cut property taxes by over one billion dollars.
District 40 Senator Tyson Larson of O’Neill says if the issue passes, next year’s legislature would have a real problem…..
Larson says it will be up to the voters of Nebraska to decide….
Larson is term limited and will not be back in Lincoln next year.
