Property Tax Amendment Proposed

Omaha State Senator Jeremy Nordquist has a Constitutional Amendment Bill before the Nebraska Legislature that would change the way property is classified for taxes.

Nordquist says it would give lawmakers flexibility to look at options down the road. The bill has to pass out of committee and the legislature before it would be put to a vote of the people.

Nordquist says right now the legislature can adjust the taxable value on agriculture land only and not residential or commercial property. This amendment would allow the same language to be used with those properties as well.
