Project Liberty Grand Opening A Success

Thousands of farmers and guests attended yesterday’s Grand Opening for Project LIBERTY in Emmetsburg, Iowa… the first commercial scale cellulosic ethanol plant in the country. Helping with the ceremony and ribbon cutting was His Majesty Willem-Alexander, King of the Netherlands. And congratulated those involved for their innovation.
U.S. Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack told the crowd the government has been supportive of renewable fuels and this cellulosic technology. However, there is more that needs to be done on the Renewable Fuels Standard. He says it’s not a partisan issue, but a geographical issue.
Once fully operation the plant will produce around 20 million gallons cellulosic ethanol per year.
