The South Dakota Department of Human Services is part of a six-state project designed to improve the education and employment opportunities for young people with disabilities.  Eric Weiss is the Director for the Division of Rehabilitation Services and says letters have been sent out to recruit teens for the project…

 

Achieving Success by Promoting Readiness for Education and Employment, or ASPIRE, is a collaboration of six states including Arizona, Colorado, Montana, North and South Dakota, and Utah to use a U.S. Department of Education grant initiative.  Weiss says the recruited teens would be divided into two groups and receive different resources to compare the education and employment outcomes…

 

The project is a five-year initiative, and Weiss says the results will help measure the effectiveness of the resources offered and their impact on disabled students.  More information can be found at aspirewest.org.
