The response rate for this year’s Census of Agriculture is lower than previous years, according to the USDA.
The survey goes out every five-years to producers to gather county-level data.
Nicholas Streff in the Nebraska Field Office says there are several reasons why producers may not be responding.
Streff says it’s important for them and their future to respond to the Census.
Streff says the slow response is being seen at the national level too.
Census takers are making personal interview calls to producers and targeted mailings are going out to others. The cut-off deadline to respond is in late July.
