Pig farmers gathered in York Wednesday for the 2021 Nebraska Pork Expo. Nebraska Pork Producers Association Executive Director Al Juhnke says producers talked about a variety of issues including the need for ag labor reform, disease and sustainability issues and the cost of buildings on swine operations.

He says producers are optimistic about the future of their industry and spirits were high as they met in York.

Juhnke says part of their recent optimism comes from the effects of the pandemic easing off some, although most producers have been very pro active in protecting their workers and animals health.

Several break out sessions were held at the Expo including those on the Secure Pork Supply and Transition planning.
