The Sarpy County Attorney is speaking out against a bill (LB 605) that is deals with prison reform in Nebraska. Lee Polikov says it is designed to do one thing and one thing only – reduce prison population with no regard to public safety.
Polikov says the proposal considers prison time as just a numbers game.
Polikov also opposes the idea of shifting overcrowding from prisons to county jails. He says the financial burden will then go to individual counties and they could be attacked for not having the required treatment programs in place.
