Voters across the state decided local and legislative races Tuesday.

In Yankton, voters elected three city commissioners. The winners included incumbent Stephanie Moser along with Ben Brunick and Tony Maibaum. (my-bomb) Republican voters chose Don Kettering and Wanda Howey-Fox to move to the November race for the county commission.

Some legislative races were very tight. The District 17 Senate primary ended with incumbent republican Senator Art Rusch of Vermillion with a six-vote lead over challenger Nancy Rasmussen of Hurley, which could lead to a recount.
The District 17 republican House races were won by Sydney Davis and Richard Vasgaard.

The District 19 republican House race could also see a recount. Incumbent Kent Peterson was in the lead, but Jessica Bahmuller and Marty Overweg were within 21 votes for the second slot.

And in the District 21 Senate primary, newcomer Erin Tobin of Winner defeated House Majority Leader Lee Qualm of Platte by a sixty one to thirty nine percent margin.
