The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission listened to more than forty speakers talk about their support or opposition to a proposed wind farm north of Avon at a public meeting Wednesday night.
The “Prevailing Winds” project would build about two hundred towers, on thirty-seven thousand acres of land in Charles Mix and Bon Homme Counties.
PUC Chairman Chris Nelson says they will now set a time line toward a decision…………

Nelson says they have several factors under state law to study in their consideration of a permit…..

Nelson says the will also consider what they heard at the public gathering, which lasted over four and a half hours…..

The PUC must make a decision on a permit before the end of the year.
