The newest wind project to South Dakota is looking for investors. Another round of investor meetings will be held in December for Prevailing Winds, LLC. The project builds on the success of Beethoven Wind, which was recently completed and is providing electricity to residents in southeastern South Dakota. However, Prevailing Winds Board President Ron Hornstra says this wind farm will generate even more power.

He says the wind towers will be located on the same ridge as Beethoven Wind, just a little farther south. However, they don’t have an off-taker for the energy yet.

Hornstra says only South Dakota residents can invest and they’re hoping to raise $2.5 million dollars to get the project shovel ready. However, the initial investment is critical for moving forward.

Hornstra says wind is the cheapest green energy source and the price of the electricity is guaranteed for the next 20 years.
Investor meetings are scheduled for December 1 in Mitchell and Yankton, December 3 at Watertown and Brookings, December 8 in Platte and Tripp and December 10 in Sioux Falls.
