Prestage Farms has chosen Wright County in Iowa for its $240 million dollar pork processing facility. The plant would employ 900 people and process 10,000 hogs a day. Owner Ron Prestage says he expects to gain approval for the plant, which will be located just south of Eagle Grove.
He says they’ll be able to get the workforce needed for the plant as it’s an area that wants and appreciates their type of business.
Prestage says they chose Wright County for their facility over 9 other states and 18 other Iowa communities.
Prestage says the Wright County supervisors have to sign off of the project which he’s optimistic will happen. He also expects to get resolutions of support from the towns of Eagle Grove and Clarion in Wright County, as well as Webster City which is in a nearby county.
