President Biden is in the process of issuing an Executive Order supporting Right to Repair. That’s an issue that’s involved farmers trying to make adjustments on their equipment while doing field work and being halted by corporate farm equipment regulations. Nebraska Farm Bureau’s Director of National Affairs Jordan (dukes) Dux says it’s positive the administration is weighing in on Right to Repair.
He says his group prefers not to have to seek a legislative remedy to these type of issues but to work for private agreements that potentially benefits everyone.
Dux says part of the reason this problem came about is because the copyright and intellectual property rules were written by those who didn’t take into account what ramifications they have on the producers out in the field.
A public interest research group has weighed in on Right to Repair saying the upcoming executive order is great for everyone concerned with repair monopolies.
