President Trump spoke about agriculture at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids this week and also visited with Iowa farmers afterward. Iowa Corn Growers Association Vice President Mark Recker says the President restated his support for renewable fuels and ethanol, but also infrastructure and trade.
However, Recker wanted the President to give more details on how he’s going to follow through for agriculture.
Recker says while the President mentioned his infrastructure plan, he didn’t address the need for repairing and maintaining locks and dams on the nation’s waterways.
Recker hopes the President and his administration will work to keep the gains the U.S. has achieved in NAFTA and improve market access for America’s producers in whatever bilateral agreements he pursues.
