President Offers Immigration Reform Plan

Thursday, President Donald Trump rolled out his immigration reform plan he wants Congress to approve. It includes a revamp of the green card system for immigrants who are highly skilled labor. Western Iowa Dairy Alliance Executive Director Scott Schroeder says it has potential for the dairy industry which needs that type of work force.

He says the challenge will be to get bipartisan support in Congress for the proposal as it doesn’t address the problem of illegal immigrants.

Schroeder says processing plants also have need for highly skilled labor and could benefit from the plan.

Schroeder says they’re appreciative the president brought forth a solution and hopes lawmakers will give it serious consideration.
