With the American Rescue Plan Act now through Congress, President Joe Biden is expected to push forward his plan for infrastructure legislation. Waterways Council Senior Vice President Deb Calhoun says they are encouraged by the move as the package will provide additional stimulus to the economy.

She says the Waterways Council is ready to engage with the President and Congress on what to include in an infrastructure package to get the most benefits.

Calhoun says upgrading the inland waterways aligns with the President’s climate goals which should help get an infrastructure measure over the finish line.

Biden’s infrastructure plan is expected to also include a jobs provision and is likely to be costlier than the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan.
