This week the U.S. Commerce Department issued preliminary anti-dumping duties against Argentina and Indonesia biodiesel imports into the United States. Those will be published in the federal register next week. National Biodiesel Board member and Nebraska farmer Greg Anderson calls it a good first step.
The duties range from just over 54-percent to 70-percent on biodiesel from Argentina and over 50-percent for biodiesel from Indonesia. Anderson says the preliminary decision helps give certainty to the U.S. biodiesel industry and bodes well for a final ruling expected in January.
He says the Commerce Department decision will positively impact not only the U.S. biodiesel industry but farmers and consumers.
Commerce Department officials are expected to announce the final determination by January 3 of 2018.
