Predicted Infection Peak Pushed Back

Health experts had been predicting a big peak in coronavirus cases around July first with as many as one hundred thirty thousand infections statewide.

Doug Ekeren, President of Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton says it now looks like a lower peak and more sporadic outbreaks…

Ekeren says their planning predicted up to thirteen thousand cases in their seven county service area…..

Ekeren says those predicted peaks are coming down due to precautions taken by the public…

The state Health Department is reporting that fifty four percent of all hospital beds are available, and forty seven percent of ICU beds are open.
