The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska officially cut the ribbon the Prairie Flower Casino in Carter Lake, Iowa yesterday (Thursday). Chairman Larry Wright Jr. says it is a proud day for the Ponca Tribe.
National Indian Gaming Association Chairman Ernie Stevens Jr. attended the grand opening and says it marks a new beginning for the Tribe.
Stevens says casinos have helped them rebuild their once forgotten communities. The casino creates nearly 100 new jobs and proceeds will go to Ponca Tribe health care, job training and land preservation. Money will also be given to Carter Lake for their first responders and community development.
