South Dakota’s dairy industry is vibrant and growing and consumers are getting to see that for themselves during June Dairy Month open houses. MoDak Dairy of Goodwin held their tour on Saturday and co-owner Greg Moes says they had a record crowd. They’re just one of many operations opening their doors to the public this month.

Moes says their 2,000-cow operation, is indicative of the growth in the state’s dairy industry. In fact, South Dakota continues to lead the nation in milk production increases month over month and year over year. Processing is also expanding.

Ag United is hosting the tours this month and President Richard Vasgaard says they hope consumers attending see the expansion is being done in an environmental manner.

Vasgaard says they also want the public to understand the economic value the growing dairy industry brings to the state.
