Port Yankton Backers Look to Petition Drive

Backers of the Port Yankton project will now consider a state-wide petition drive to put a constitutional amendment on next year’s ballot.
The state Senate defeated an amendment resolution yesterday Monday on a vote of twenty-two to thirteen.

Yankton Area Progressive Growth C.E.O. Nancy Wenande says their planning committee will meet again this week….

Wenande says it will be expensive to mount a petition drive..

Wenande says they plan on getting a large number of signatures…

Those signatures have to be turned in to the Secretary of State in early November.
