Pork producers will want to attend a seminar and become certified in pork quality assurance. The seminar hosted by South Dakota State is scheduled for today (Thursday). Extension swine specialist Ryan Samuel says for pork producers to market their hogs, they need to be certified in pork quality assurance.
The pork quality assurance certification lasts for three years and Samuel says the certification process takes approximately two hours to complete. The swine specialist says the pork quality assurance program came about through consumers wanting to know more about the food they eat, and about the animal welfare.
Samuel says the seminar will be held in the Animal Science Hall.
