American pork producers are voicing concern at the rising global spread of African Swine Fever that was earlier detected in China. Australian officials say six pork products tested positive for ASF among 152 products that were seized at airports in their country and tested. Nebraska Pork Producers Association President Darin Uhlir says they’re asking travelers to be extra cautious and take preventative steps to keep the disease from spreading.

He says the latest case in Australia isn’t the only recent incidence of ASF spreading.

Uhlir also advises producers to be careful of what they purchase on line, especially feed.

Uhlir says producers are continuing to increase their biosecurity measures and his Association has been meeting with health and government officials to map out further preventative steps of African Swine Fever.
