Approximately 120 pork producers from across the nation are at our nation’s capital to discuss issues relevant to the pork industry. Terry Wolters of Pipestone, Minnesota, serves as president of the National Pork Producers Council. He says pork producers are concerned about the introduction of foreign animal diseases, such as African Swine Fever.
The pork producers’ president says it is economically important to the swine industry to sufficiently fund the program to help ward off any foreign animal diseases.
Wolters says pork producers are also urging government officials to establish trade agreements with the Pacific rim nations.
Wolters says it is important that pork producers travel to Washington DC to visit with Congressional and Senate members and their staff.
