The Wright County Iowa Board of Supervisors have forwarded a rezoning ordinance on the proposal to build the Prestage Foods Pork Processing facility to second reading. The next public hearing on the process is set for July 25. Ron Prestage, owner of the proposed plant is pleased at the support he’s seeing for the project planned near the town of Eagle Grove.

He says besides the jobs the plant will create the influx of money to the region, the other benefits of the project include those that will be seen by local pork producers supplying the plant.

Prestage says besides the backing from the county so far, he’s also received resolutions of approval from the towns of Eagle Grove, Clarion, Webster City and Fort Dodge. He says the whole region will be positively impacted by the processing plant.

Wright county is looking to rezone the land for the pork processing plant from agricultural to industrial.
