A coalition of 53 agriculture groups led by the National Pork Producers Council wants a comprehensive trade agreement between the U.S. and the European Union. Coalition members have written to the U.S. Trade Representative’s Office asking them to make sure the E.U. includes agriculture in any deal. Nebraska Pork Producers Association President Darin Uhlir says for that pact to work, U.S. agriculture must have access to the European market.
He says for any trade agreement to be successful for the U.S., agriculture must be part of those discussions.
Uhlir says trade has made the difference in bringing profit to America’s pork producers.
In their letter the Ag coalition said they expect the Trump administration to require the E.U. to negotiate on agriculture and to eliminate all tariff and non tariff trade barriers.
