National Pork Board members have taken a proactive approach in working with the National Pork Producers Council and American Association of Swine Veterinarians to put together plans for a new Swine Health Information Center. Pork Board’s Vice President of Science and Technology Dr. Paul Sundberg says the hope is the new center will allow the industry to get ahead of the curve in dealing with emerging swine diseases.
Sundberg says while the Pork Board provided $ 15 million over five years for the Center, the new facility will have its own board of directors and all of that will be announced during Pork Forum next March.
Sundberg says the impetus for the new project all came about because of the hard work of pork producers themselves.
