Despite the ongoing trade war and China’s current tariff rate of 62 percent on U.S. pork, that country remains the greatest sales opportunity for U.S. pork. Nebraska Pork Producers Association Executive Director Al Juhnke says the Chinese consume the most pork in the world.
He says the U.S. has lost some of the market access to China to our competitors due to the trade war.
Juhnke says another reason China is an important market is that they don’t just take the loins and shoulders but also other parts of the pigs other countries don’t take.
Juhnke remains hopeful the current tariffs China placed on U.S. pork will get lifted.
