The Iowa Economic Development Authority has voted to provide $ 11.4 million in an incentive package for the Prestage Farms Pork Processing Facility planned for Eagle Grove. Iowa Pork Producers Association President Al Wulfekuhle says it was a positive decision with only one dissenting vote. He says the project will benefit the area schools as well as the neighboring communities.

He says pork producers in Iowa and the region will benefit from having the processing plant built near Eagle Grove.

Wulfekuhle says once the Prestage plant is up and operating it will provide competition for area processors that will benefit producers.

The Prestage processing plant is a $ 240 million facility that will take two years to build.
