A recent Purdue University Study shows nearly half of 800 consumers surveyed say they get their animal welfare information from HSUS and PETA. Nebraska Pork Producer’s President Jan Miller says that’s concerning and getting the right message out to consumers to counter those activist groups is an uphill battle.
Miller says the Purdue survey shows producers need to be more active in informing consumers how they care for their animals.
The Purdue report published in the Journal of Animal Science indicates the ag industry is a less used source of public information about animal welfare.
