The National Pork Producers Council thanked President Trump for signing the funding bill this week for new agricultural inspectors to battle foreign animal diseases from entering the country. Nebraska Pork Producers Association President John Csukker says having funding for 720 new ag inspectors is a critical tool for pork producers to guard against African Swine Fever or any foreign animal disease.

He says the major concern for he and his fellow producers attending pork forum this week is foreign animal diseases.

Csukker says pork producers will be heading to the nation’s capital next month to talk to Congress about adding funding for another important protection against foreign animal diseases, that being the FMD vaccine bank that has already received some funding.

The Ag Inspectors bill signed this week also provides funding for 60 new agricultural canine teams.
