The pork industry is happy President Trump signed the latest COVID-19 economic relief package. It contains much needed compensation for livestock producers that had to euthanize animals or had canceled orders when packing plants backed up in the spring. Minnesota Pork CEO Dave Preisler says it will reimburse farmers 80-percent for those losses.

Additionally, Preisler says there is also money allocated for animal health programs.

Preisler says they are also pleased with the dollars targeted at small and medium sized processors that have seen an increase in demand since the pandemic.

This aid program did not contain direct payments like CFAP 1 and 2.
