The Sustainable Food Policy Alliance wants the administration to prioritize COVID 19 testing for food and agriculture workers. Nebraska Pork Producers Association Executive Director Al Juhnke says his industry relies on those essential workers in processing plants and his state is doing a good job making sure those workers are tested. He says they’ve used different testing models.

He says another model that’s been used in Nebraska is to test those workers who have already gotten ill.

Juhnke says not all of the states are in line with how or when COVID 19 testing should be done. He says the move towards tracing or tracking of the coronavirus seems to be what most states and employers of essential workers are going to.

The Alliance has sent their request for prioritized testing to both Vice President Mike Pence and to Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue.
