Iowa Pork Producers Association Chief Executive Officer Pat McGonegle says most of the state’s producers are following proper procedures with their manure management. That comes after activists filed a complaint with the State DNR about failure of those plans in five counties. McGonegle says while some mistakes may have been made, most producers are environmentally responsible.
He says producers besides being environmentally responsible are getting the most out of their management plans to improve their crops.
McGonegle says pork groups around the country are using check off funds to improve their environmental footprint while all activists are doing is complaining.
McGonegle says pork producers are committed to solutions and improving water quality.
