Pork CEO Pleased North American Country’s Working To Prevent Spread Of ASF

The United States, Canada and Mexico are seeking measures to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever to North America. Minnesota Pork Producers CEO Dave Preisler says not only is that a very good and positive move, it also fits with policy passed at their recent annual meeting.

He says in order to prevent ASF from getting to North America, it’s essential that the three countries collaborate to stop it.

Preisler says it’s critical inspections are enhanced at the borders because it’s more important to prevent the disease from occurring that dealing with it after it’s already hit.

Preisler says because there is no vaccine for African Swine Fever the only real option is biosecurity and prevention.
