Following the release of the Dietary Guidelines report Friday, the National Pork Board sent out a reminder that eating pork which is a nutrient dense food is not over consumed on average in America. Pork Board’s Vice President of Domestic Marketing and Registered Dietitian Ceci Snyder says not only is pork not overly consumed, it is scientifically proven to help people lose or maintain weight by contributing to feeling full and preserving lean muscle.
Snyder says pork is leaner than most people give it credit for. She says anyone following a proper diet needs the protein pork provides.
Snyder also says that more than 60 percent of the American population consumes the protein food group at or below recommended intake levels.
