A focus of attention for the pork producers attending the National Pork Forum to be held this week at Orlando, Florida will be the prevention of foreign animal diseases, such as African Swine Fever, from entering the U-S borders. Tim Schmidt is a pork producer from Sioux County, Iowa and will be a voting delegate at this week’s National Pork Forum. He says biosecurity plays a major role in preventing diseases from spreading, and he tells of the biosecurity measures he has implemented on his pork operation.
Schmidt says many pork producers have implemented a “shower in and shower out” policy as another way to prevent the spread of diseases. Schmidt says his farm is a century farm, and he talks about his farming operation.
Schmidt says there is no doubt that disease control will be talked about at this week’s National Pork Forum.
