POET, the world’s largest producer of biofuels has completed its first POET Solar farm on site. POET General Manager and Vice President of POET Design and Construction Rod Pierson says it will be used to supply power to their corporate headquarters in Sioux Falls.

He says they’re looking at expanding this solar farm to some of their biofuels facilities and to build this type of farm for use in other locations.

Pierson says the solar farm’s out put also offsets 630,000 kilograms of carbon emissions each year. He says this new solar farm is an addition to their renewable fuels plants and other renewable energy projects.

POET has a goal of being carbon neutral by 2050.
