The Public Lands Council along with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association wants the Interior Department to withdraw their resource management plan for the sage grouse. The groups say the plan is based on inaccurate science and isn’t working. PLC Executive Director Ethan Lane says ranching and grazing isn’t threatening the sage grouse, it’s invasive species, development, wildfires and cheat grass that are the problem.

He says proper grazing has had a better effect on the sage grouse habitat.

Lane says ranchers have done a great job on sage grouse habitation and that the federal government needs to remove itself from management of the species and let states handle it.

Lane says his group and NCBA have both written to the Obama Administration outlining their views on the issues and intend to push Congress to keep the Interior Department from going forward with this bad management plan.
